Agent Carter is set to return with two episodes tonight, leading up to next week’s “Hollywood Ending” of a finale, and to change things up a bit, there will be a small musical number performed in the second episode of the night titled “A Little Song and Dance”. Yesterday, courtesy of the folks over at TV Insider, we revealed a few images from the episode, teasing not only the return of Angie (Lyndsy Fonseca), but also what appears to be a musical number featuring Jarvis and a few of the ladies of Agent Carter – including two of the show’s excellent villains! Now today, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have our first clip from the second episode, and it looks to be a nice change of pace for the series.
Perhaps most exciting is seeing the episode serve as a showcase for the ever so talented cast, especially Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) and Enver Gjokaj (Daniel Sousa), who get to show off their pipes in the clip below.
Entertainment Weekly was also able to chat with series star Hayley Atwell about the musical number, and what it was like when the writers first approached her about it, and Atwell admitted that she initially thought it was a joke.
“When the showrunners told me that it was going to happen, I thought they were lying, because they’re such pranksters. You can’t walk into that office without being boobytrapped in some way,” Atwell tells EW. “Then the script came, and it’s an absolute incredible spectacle. I went into Capitol Records and recorded some, so I am singing in it, and I’m doing a little bit of dancing. There’s some fantastic professional dancers that are in it too.”
She then went on to explain that she found the episode to be “brilliant” and “surreal”. Atwell even went on to state that it was one of the best working days she’s had.
“The whole thing is brilliant because it’s such a surreal moment that comes out of nowhere, it just takes the show into a whole different world for a second. It was one of the best days of my working life,” says Atwell. “Everyone was in such a good mood, everyone turned up to watch the filming of it. Jarvis was having an absolute ball, leaving going, ‘I’m going to take up up dancing lessons now!’ [And I come] away going: ‘Oh, I think I’ve got a career in singing! Amazing. I’m the next Adele!’ An overblown sense of our skills and talent. But it was hysterical. By this point, the crew gets on incredibly well with each other, there’s a very strong sense of camaraderie, so that was a joyous day where we could all have fun.”
Agent Carter is on ABC tonight with the final twofer of the season. Be sure to tune in!
