Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is shaping up to be the most ambitious season yet, and newcomer Gabriel Luna, aka Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider, may just be the reason. With only 3 episodes in, he has been very well received by both fans and critics alike. And it looks as though he isn’t planning on slowing down anytime soon, with episode 4 looking to be his biggest episode yet.
Luna recently sat down with CBR for an interview regarding tonight’s episode. Based off this weeks episode promo, we will be seeing the Ghost Rider himself contained within the S.H.I.E.L.D. base. When asked about his first experience on the S.H.I.E.L.D. base set Luna had this to say:
“As you can see in the episode, I’m in the containment pod and — at one point — the door slides open, and who knows if all hell breaks loose? But I remember being on the cargo bay of the Zephyr and that door slides open; I remember seeing Agent Phil Coulson standing in front of me. It was the first time Clark [Gregg] and I had worked together. We did table reads and I’d seen him walking around the lot, but this was the first time Robbie Reyes and Agent Phil Coulson are in the same room and I remember, in my mind, I was Gabriel Luna being like, “Holy shit! That’s Agent Phil Coulson!” It was exciting! The whole set is incredible!”
Sounds like Luna is about just as excited as the fans are for Robbie and Coulson to come head to head. However, it seems as if there may be an even bigger match in the upcoming episode. When asked what words can sum up this weeks episode, Luna simply replied by saying “Lola vs. Lucy.”
As many know, Lola is Phil Coulson’s one true love, and oh yeah, she is also a flying car. For those confused on the name Lucy, it looks to be what Luna has nick named his “Hell Charger”. While this is a much-expected face off, it is one that many fans are looking forward to.
Luna went on to speak about current and future relationships on the show and was also asked about a certain uncle Eli, and his changes from the comic.
“We are going to see Uncle Eli, which I’m very happy to tell you. The way in which he comes to our story is something I can’t really touch on, but I think everyone will be pleased with the way we kind of slide that story over to the screen and make it new and exciting.”
Should be interesting to see where they go with him. Hopefully, we are able to get some information during tonight’s episode, but if not, it seems as if we are going to have our plates full regardless.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays on ABC at 10|9c.
