Phase 3 of the MCU has started off with another box office hit in Captain America: Civil War, but later this year Marvel will release the second film during this phase, Doctor Strange. It will unlock a new corner of this universe by introducing magic, multiple dimensions, and who knows what else. Leading that change will not only be Scott Derrickson as the director, but also Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange himself.

It was previously a mystery when we would see Strange again after his solo film, but common sense would have pointed towards him appearing again in either part of Avengers: Infinity War. Well, now one of writers, Stephen McFeely, seems to have confirmed such a thing. While speaking to Collider, McFeely was talking about actors schedules and used Cumberbatch as an example.

The scheduling has got to be a nightmare. You can’t just say, “Benedict Cumberbatch or whoever come to Atlanta for eight months.” It can’t work that way.

Again, this is not at all surprising. In fact, it would be more surprising if he was not going to appear in the movie. Now, they could have said any actors name in there, but this seemingly confirms that Strange will be battling it out against Thanos. Let us know if you are excited/surprised about Cumberbatch appearing in the comments below!

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is scheduled to hit theaters May 4, 2018. Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 is scheduled to hit theaters May 3, 2019.
