With Captain America: Civil War set to hit movie theaters next weekend, it’s time to turn our focus to Marvel’s second release for 2016: Doctor Strange. We’ve already seen our first teaser trailer for the upcoming film, and courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, we’ve also gotten a few great images of Benedict Cumberbatch in costume. Still, there’s plenty we don’t know about the upcoming film, something that co-writer C. Robert Cargill has even teased in a recent interview, insisting that the first trailer has only scratched the surface of what’s to come.

The folks over at Empire Magazine were able to chat with the upcoming film’s director and star, Scott Derrickson and Benedict Cumberbatch, recently, and they both hinted at the new possibilities the film will open up within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cumberbatch reaffirmed that the film will be “very different” from what we’ve come to expect within the MCU so far.

“It’s a very different feel, different hero and different set of circumstances to what we’ve seen before,” Cumberbatch tells Empire in the new issue. “It’s another moment during Marvel’s evolution.”

Derrickson, who has proven his love of the character in the past, also explained that they had a lot of freedom to take the movie as far as they felt was needed. Given the character, and the “weirdness” that he’ll bring when he officially joins the MCU this November, knowing that they continued to both things visually is something that should please Doctor Strange fans.

“We felt free to go as far as we could imagine,” he expands, “so we’re doing a lot of things that I think have not been done before. Once we’d crossed a certain line we just kept going.”

Doctor Strange will hit movie theaters on November 4th, 2016.
