At long last, Marvel has finally announced the directing team for Captain Marvel. The film will be helmed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, whose previous work includes Mississippi Grind, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, and Sugar, according to a report from Variety.

Fleck and Boden reportedly met with Marvel Studios executives several times, and impressed them with their vision for the film. The team is best known for creating character studies in dramas like Half Nelson and 2015’s Mississippi Grind, and have also directed several episodes of prestige television shows such as The Affair and HBO’s Billions

Best known for their character study dramas like “Half Nelson” and “Mississippi Grind,” Boden and Fleck have spent a lot of time directing episodes for such popular TV shows as Showtime’s “The Affair” and “Billions.”

Captain Marvel will star Oscar-winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, the first female superhero to lead a Marvel film. The script is being penned by Meg LaFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy). The film hits theaters March 8, 2019.
