In a few months, Marvel will start gearing up for the start of production on Thor: Ragnarok. Based on what we know about the movie, it will be a very different addition to the Thor franchise. This time around, Thor will be joined by his regular set of allies, but he’ll also be joined by his fellow Avenger, Hulk.

There have also been reports of more female characters showing up in the movie, whether it be a female lead villain or Valkyrie. With a few more female roles up for grabs, one of the biggest names rumored to get one of the roles is Cate Blanchett.

She has recently addressed the possibility of joining the MCU, but we have yet to get anything close to a confirmation. However, while she was making an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she was asked about whether or not she is in the movie. Her response sounds a lot like a confirmation from her.

Yes, Chris Hemsworth is busy, so I’ve been working out.

After reiterating that she was not dodging the question, she went on to give an interesting tease as to who she could play.

They’re just substituting one Australian for another. Gender equality! Why can’t you have a female Thor?

Jane Foster has recently taken the mantle of Thor in the comics, so a scenario where Blanchett becomes the new Thor for a few films would be very interesting. Chris Hemsworth has already confirmed that he is in Avengers: Infinity War so whatever could possibly happen to make Thor not Thor would reverse in the future.

I am not one to think that she would actually overtake the Thor mantle even though it would be cool. Hopefully, she gets a substantial role in Thor: Ragnarok and will exist in the MCU for a few years.

Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to hit theaters November 3, 2017.
