With a little over a month until Agent Carter returns for its second season, we’re beginning to learn more about Peggy’s journey in season two and where her relationships stand with the cast members joining her from season one. Thanks to a teaser image from Marvel back in September, we know that Agent Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) wasn’t the only person to receive a promotion as Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) was promoted to Chief in the Los Angeles department. But with that revelation came a new question: Now that we knew Sousa’s role in season two, what role would Thompson play with him still running the New York division? Thanks to a new interview with Murray, we seem to have an answer.

“He’s got to take the reins and become the man he’s ultimately going to be,” Murray says. “He’s got control over what Carter’s going to do, where she’s going to be. He’s in charge of Sousa. He’s in charge of the SSR.”

With so many changes in season two, what does that mean for Carter and Thompson? Can we expect a change in their relationship, or can we still expect Thompson to be the jerk he was during season one? From the looks of it, their relationship is one of the few things that won’t change this season as it’s safe to say Thompson will still be the jerk we’ve come to know.

“I think we’re going to see some classic Thompson,” Murray says. “But we’ll also get to peek behind some curtains and see a bit more.”

Agent Carter returns for its ten-episode second season on January 5th, 2016.
