When a second season of Daredevil was confirmed for 2016, many fans were left wondering when it would actually premiere and if it would affect Luke Cage and Iron Fist. While still unsure if Iron Fist will end up getting pushed back, we now seem to have an idea of when season two will hit Netflix next year.

During an interview with Empire Online, Charlie Cox talked about what villains he’d like to see pop up in the second season, and like many fans, he’s hoping to see Punisher and/or Bullseye make their way to the show at some point – if not next season.

“I have to be careful because we just got commissioned so I have no idea who is going to turn up,” prefaced the Londoner, revealing, unsurprisingly, that he expects a new villain – or villains – to step into the Hell’s Kitchen underworld. “Based on the show we’ve created, which is very grounded in reality, I’d like to see Punisher maybe show up, a little bit of Elektra maybe. I wouldn’t mind Black Widow making an appearance, and you can’t think about Daredevil for too long without thinking of Bullseye. I don’t know when or if or how that would happen, but it’d be cool if it did.”

The most interesting part of the interview, however, was that Cox revealed when the second season is set to start shooting and when they’re hoping to release it on Netflix.

“We’ll begin shooting in the second half of the year,” Cox revealed. “It’ll be the same timeline as the last show, so season two will come out about this time next year. Again, I’m imagining all this, but there’ll probably do Iron Fist or Luke Cage at the same time, followed by the other one [of the two] in the first half of 2016 and then maybe Defenders in the second half of 2016 or the beginning of 2017.”

As Cox pointed out above, with Daredevil set to start filming season two during the second half of the year, that will actually put it in production around the same time as Luke Cage. (Side note: A.K.A. Jessica Jones should complete filming by July, so both shows should begin filming not too long afterwards.) As for Iron Fist, given that there’s still no showrunner attached, and I don’t expect one to be until Luke Cage enters production, I’d say that show will follow the same timeline as A.K.A. Jessica Jones, meaning filming would probably start around February for a late 2016 release. This would allow them to start filming The Defenders in 2016, if they were aiming for a 2017 release. But that all depends on if the other shows receive a second season pick-up before then. It’s all a guessing game for the fans at this point, but one that I’m sure Netflix already has worked out.
