Back in June, it was reported that Chiwetel Ejiofor would be joining Doctor Strange and would be playing Baron Mordo. Despite his long rumored attachment, Marvel never made an official announcement until last weekend at D23.
Ejiofor will be the villain of the film opposite of Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) and joins what looks to be an impressive cast for director Scott Derrickson. He can next be seen in Z for Zachariah and while promoting that film, he spoke for the first time about his new role.
I am doing Doctor Strange, and I’m incredibly excited about it. That’s all I say.
It isn’t much, we know, but with filming set to begin in November, we should hear more from him leading up to that. He did comment on his fellow cast mates and working with Cumberbatch again.
He’s a good friend of mine. So, it’s gonna be fun. And Tilda Swinton — I haven’t worked with her, but I’m excited to work with her. She’s brilliant.
These three should have plenty of scenes together and I am just as excited for them to be on screen together as he is.
Rachel McAdams is also rumored to join the cast, although as of right now, nothing official has been announced via the trades nor Marvel.
Doctor Strange will hit theaters November 4, 2016.
