The contract situations with most of the key Avengers team members has always been a main concern with most people in the know. After Phase 3 is finished a good chunk of the team we know and love, as of right now, would not be returning. Thanks to an interview with Collider we know now a bit more about how some of the contracts are playing out, in particular with Chris Hemsworth. It appears that not only does he have only 3 movies left after Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that he will be appearing in both Part 1 and Part 2 of Avengers: Infinity War. This would mean that as of Part 2 of Infinity War his contract would be up, as he still has his third solo movie, Thor: Ragnarok in 2017.
Mark Ruffalo has a 9 picture deal, and as of Avengers: Age of Ultron he’ll have only completed 2 of those, so there are no worries there. Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson are on a movie to movie deal and are both confirmed for Captain America: Civil War, so outside of any untimely demises there shouldn’t be a whole lot on concern about lack of future appearances. It’s the heavy hitters though, the ones who star in their own movies, that are are at risk of not going beyond Phase 3. And by heavy hitters I mean Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth. All 3 have contracts which are up as of Avengers: Infinity War Part 2.
Below you can check out the quote confirming the appearances as well as the full video from Collider.
I’m three films away from [the end of my contract]; I’ve got Avengers 3 and 4 and I’ve got Thor 3.
