Production officially kicked off on Marvel and Netflix’s fifth series, The Defenders, yesterday in New York. With the start of production, came the official confirmation that both Simone Missick and Deborah Ann Woll – Misty Knight and Karen Page, respectively – would be returning for the mini-series. Now today, Marvel has officially announced that Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), and Eka Darville (Malcolm) will all be reprising their roles from their various shows in the upcoming mini-series.

If you’ve been following along on the site, then you’ll know most of these announcements aren’t necessarily news. Missick had already confirmed her involvement in the mini-series while doing press for Luke Cage, and both Henson and Darville have long since confirmed their returns for the series. Still, this is the first official confirmation from Marvel on the matter. Should the entertainment giant continue to follow this pattern of confirming cast members daily, I’d expect to see confirmations regarding Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker) and Elodie Yung (Elektra) over the next couple of days. Also, it’s interesting to note the characters from this video release all play non-powered supporting roles for Daredevil and Jessica Jones. If Marvel continues casting in this direction, perhaps we will see Luke Cage supporting actor Ron Cephas Jones, who plays Bobby Fish for that series. More than likely, The Defenders will need some friends on the outside to keep them grounded and able to make it through the events to come.
