Update: Although Derrickson’s tweet hit shortly after this rumor did, it would seem that it may actually be in reference to the 4Chan “leak”. Many have been spreading the “leaked” information and have been reporting on it, leading to Derrickson’s warning to fans to only trust news straight from Marvel. The original article can be read below.

With Doctor Strange opening the door to mysticism in the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes the opportunity for director Scott Derrickson and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to walk any number of characters through it. While we know that the film is going to be the origin of Sorcerer Supreme Stephen Strange and that we are going to meet mystics such as The Ancient One, Mordo and Kaecilius, That Hashtag Show is reporting that two other relatively important Marvel mystics will debut in the film as well: Tina Minoru and Jericho Drumm, aka Brother Voodoo.

The first Doctor Strange prelude comic, which is currently accepted as MCU canon, introduced Tina Minoru and Daniel Drumm, Jericho’s brother, as part of a team of Masters of the Mystic Arts alongside Wong and Kaecilius. If you saw our Runaways Meet and Greet the other day, you’ll recognize that Tina Minoru is the mother of Runaways member Nico Minoru. Given that Tina is a member of the villainous Pride, it’s reasonable to assume that at some point she takes up dark witchcraft, perhaps even alongside Kaecilius. Having Tina in the MCU, even in a brief cameo as is mentioned in That Hashtag Show’s report, would create the perfect tangent with which to connect Runaways to larger events.

Slightly more interesting is the mention of Jericho Drumm making an appearance, reportedly in FULL Brother Voodoo costume. Jericho Drumm is a Haitian Voodoo Lord who has played a key role in many comic arcs over the past 40+ years. While currently a member of the Avengers Unity Squad in Uncanny Avengers, he has also been a member of both the New Avengers and the Mighty Avengers and has also served as the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth-616 at a time when Stephen Strange was stripped of the title. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Jericho’s brother Daniel working alongside Strange and Mordo in their pursuit of Kaecilius (we’ve seen in set photos that there are several other folks working with them in the streets of New York). In that event, we may well see Daniel’s death which is a key event in the origins of Jericho Drumm becoming who he is.

That Hashtag Show says that both these roles will be very brief, perhaps just cameos, but we know that Marvel Studios has a nice habit of growing roles over the course of time. Especially in the case of Jericho Drumm, it would not be surprising to see him continue to appear in the MCU.

However, as exciting as this would be, it’s worth noting that is all merely a rumor for now. Derrickson even took to Twitter following this report to remind fans to be cautious regarding any reports that don’t come from Marvel directly.

In addition to these tidbits from That Hashtag Show, we’ve also heard it’s a POSSIBILITY that a Black Knight Easter Egg may be hidden in the Sanctum Sanctorum as well, leaving us fans with one more thing to possibly look for when Doctor Strange hit theaters in just over 2 months!
