When Doctor Strange officially began filming last month, we were treated to a plethora of set photos, showcasing not only the star Benedict Cumberbatch on set, but also Baron Mordo himself, Chiwetel Ejiofor. However, while there were plenty of shots of Ejiofor in costume, we never managed to get a look at Cumberbatch in full costume – even Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito managed to hide Cumberbatch in costume when he posted a bunch of photos from set last week. Which is what makes today’s surprise reveal all that more exciting.

Entertainment Weekly has officially dropped the first look at Cumberbatch in costume, and he looks pretty dang great as Doctor Strange!

Along with the sneak peek of Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Entertainment Weekly was able to speak with Cumberbatch about the upcoming project and how he’s still learning the gestures needed while casting spells.

“I’m still in the infancy of learning all that,” Cumberbatch tells EW. “It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.”

EW has also stated that Marvel has officially confirmed what roles both Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen will play in the film – although we’ll have to wait until this issue hits the stands to find out!

Doctor Strange, which films through March, will hit movie theaters on November 4th, 2016!
