A couple of days ago, the folks over at Spoiler TV unveiled both the title and a short synopsis for the upcoming second episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s fourth season, titled “Meet the New Boss”. Although short, the synopsis revealed a showdown between Daisy “Quake” Johnson (Chloe Bennet) and Robbie “Ghost Rider” Reyes (Gabriel Luna), something we’d already seen hints of when set images made their way online showcasing Quake clinging to the Hell Charger. However, it appears that isn’t the only showdown we’ll be seeing in the second episode. The full synopsis, which was just released by ABC, hints at a faceoff between the former Director (Clark Gregg) and current Director (Jason O’Mara) of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Meet the New Boss (9/27)

Meet the New Boss” – Daisy goes to battle Ghost Rider at a terrible cost, and Coulson faces the new Director, and his bold agenda surprises them all, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons and Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie.

Guest starring are Jason O’Mara as the Director, Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes, Briana Venskus as Agent Piper, Nico David as boy, John Churchill as father, Adrian Quinonez as Ignacio, Jen Kuo Sung as Chen, Daniel Zacapa as Canelo, Lilli Birdsell as Lucy, Dan Donohue as Frederick, Ward Roberts as Hugo, Usman Ally as Vincent, Deren Tadlock as armed S.H.I.E.L.D. guard and Mark Daneri as Wisconsin congressman.

Meet the New Boss” was written by Drew Z. Greenberg and directed by Vincent Misiano.

Unfortunately, this synopsis doesn’t contain many surprises in comparison to the premiere episode’s synopsis – where we learned that Lorenzo James Henrie had been cast as Robbie’s brother, Gabe. But it does hint at a few interesting minor characters. First off, there’s Canelo (Daniel Zacapa), who is presumably the owner of Canelo’s Auto and Body, the shop where Robbie works. And then there’s Lucy (Lilli Birdsell) a character that was previously revealed by Deadline to be a “beautiful woman” with “a very violent streak”. How her character plays into the story and what secrets she’s hiding from her past should make for an interesting addition to this season – especially with a fantastic actress set to play the role. However, my favorite name listed in the guest starring roles would have to be Briana Venskus‘s Agent Piper. That character played a small role in season three’s “Failed Experiments“, but I’m really excited to see her returning for the first two episodes of season four. She stole nearly every scene she was in during “Failed Experiments“. Here’s to hoping they make more use of her going forward.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return on Septemeber 20th at 10 PM EST.
