In an expansion of their TV properties, Marvel has today announced that they are working on a new TV show based on the fan-favorite series The Runaways.
The new show, set to air on Hulu, would be a drama series telling the story of 6 teenagers – Nico Minoru, Karolina Dean, Molly Hayes, Chase Stein, Alex Wilder, and Gertrude Yorkes – who discover that their parents are part of an evil organization called “The Pride”. The Runaways will be written by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, both of whom will also serve as showrunners for the series.
“We’ve known the Runaways’ story would make great television,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, “and being lucky enough to have Josh and Stephanie–who have time and again created shows that speak so genuinely to this exact audience–write and produce the series is nothing short of remarkable.”
Nico Minoru’s mother, Tina Minoru, actually appeared in the prequel comic book for the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, helping to confirm that this series will indeed take place in the MCU like Marvel’s other shows.
