Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox’s relationship is a rather complex one, as for James Gunn to be able to use Ego, played by Kurt Russel, in his latest film as Peter’s dad, Studios made a deal to allow Fox to change the powers of Negasonic Teenage Warhead, a member of the X-Men that appeared in Deadpool alongside Colossus. If Gunn had the ability to chose from any character without any of the rights issues getting in his way, the director revealed that he already would have a particular villain in mind he would love to tackle at some point.

I think that there’s a good chance that if we had all of those characters—I really like the character of Annihilus. And there’s a chance that I would have done Annihilus as a villain in one of the movies.

Annihilus is tied to the Fantastic Four meaning all the stories related to him are currently in Fox’s possession. The Lord of the Negative Zone could have also been an interesting way to allow people to explore other dimensions, something that was heavily teased in Doctor Strange. Moreover, the character has come across the Guardians in the comics during the Annihilation comic book storyline which saw the alien find his way out of the Negative Zone while wrecking havoc across the galaxy. The Annihlation storyline also happens to be the story that made the formation of the current iteration of Guardians possible. It is unsure if Marvel has any right to use the Negative Zone in any way, as just like Latveria, it is closely tied to the property of Fantastic Four. While Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige confirmed that there is no bad blood between the studios, the business side of things does make it difficult, but there is always the possibility for it to come together just like the surprising deal with Sony to allow Spider-Man: Homecoming to happen.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Would you like to see Annihilus make an appearance in the MCU? How would you integrate him?
