If there was one property most of us were concerned about at Marvel, it would be Iron Fist. There have been a lot of rumors around the future of the series ranging from cancellation to turning it into a Netflix movie instead. The thing about these rumors are that they are, well, rumors.
Yesterday, CBR posted an interview with Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb where they addressed the state of the Iron Fist series. He basically echoes what Joe Quesada stated a few days ago but here is what he said about those rumors,
There was a lot of speculation about what was going on with Iron Fist, because [fans] hadn’t heard anything about it, but there’s never been any change at all.
The fact of the matter is Iron Fist is, at best, over a year and a half away from hitting Netflix. Jessica Jones was just released yesterday and next year is already booked with Daredevil season 2 and Luke Cage. Loeb didn’t reveal when we’ll see Iron Fist on a Netflix show but seems very confident with their plans for the character.
We knew exactly what we were doing at Marvel and at Netflix. Let’s get [Jessica Jones] out there, everybody knows that Luke Cage is up and going. What I can say right now is we’re very excited about Iron Fist.
Loeb also said that “The short answer is, ‘Yes, there’ll be news'”. It sounds like we should get news on the Iron Fist front between now and the next Netflix release, which likely will be Daredevil season 2 in the spring. I’m not too worried about the series, especially considering it probably won’t even hit Netflix till the fall of 2017. If we don’t have a showrunner and star attached by April, then I’ll start getting worried, especially since it would all but eliminate the chance of Iron Fist popping up in Luke Cage.
