Over the last few days, there has been a rumor circulating online that John Boyega could be heading to Wakanda. Thanks to some secretive SnapChats and Kevin Feige following him on Twitter, rumors sprung that Boyega could be joining the cast of Black Panther, and following his breakout role as Finn in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, it would not be surprising that Disney wants to keep him around. After all, his Star-Wars co-star, Lupita Nyong’o, is apparently already in talks to head to Wakanda. And let’s not forget that before Chadwick Boseman was cast as T’Challa, Boyega had some cryptic tweets showing his desire to land the role. But if you were someone that was getting excited about the prospects of Boyega in Black Panther, you will apparently be disappointed.

Birth.Movies.Death is reporting that while both sides are certainly interested in working together at some point, now is not the time, and Black Panther is not that project.

Boyega is not in talks to appear in Black Panther. I have now spoken to three sources within Marvel and all agree – they’d love to do something with Boyega, but as of right now that’s not Black Panther.

Does this mean that we should not expect Boyega to pop up in a Marvel film anytime soon? Maybe not. Boyega is a rising name in Hollywood and Marvel has no shortage of films he could appear in. Both Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming will start filming this summer, while both parts of Avengers: Infinity War start shooting back to back starting at the end of the year. Boyega’s schedule is already busy filming Star Wars: Episode VIII currently, and assuming he is still around at the end of the film, he’ll make another appearance in Star Wars: Episode IX. If Marvel has to wait a bit for Boyega’s schedule to free up, I would love to see him as a young apprentice to Scott Lang, Bill Foster. Boyega would be able to spin-off or take over from Ant-Man when Paul Rudd is done, and after that Giant-Man scene in Captain America: Civil War, who wouldn’t want to see a Goliath movie?

Do you want Boyega to join the MCU, and if so, what role he should take? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
