Marvel actors are typically very quite when it comes to their upcoming projects, well, because Marvel likes it that way. It appears that Mark Ruffalo does not like staying quite as he has made plenty of news confirming director Taika Waititi and co-star Tom Hiddelston, as well as that Cate Blanchett will be the main villain.
It’s an exciting prospect to have the Hulk and Thor team up, but also fight. Ruffalo gave a brief update on the state of Thor: Ragnarok while speaking to Yahoo.
They’re writing the script now. I am thinking about it, I’m doing script meetings and stuff so we’re starting to prep it.
Marvel has been taking a somewhat surprising approach by bringing lesser known directors to their universe and turning them into big names. Waititi has been making a name for himself on the indie screen, and Ruffalo is a big fan of what he will bring to the project.
Taika Waititi’s coming in and I love him. That’s a surprise and it fits part of this Marvel doing the unexpected, casting the unexpected, and now bringing in the unexpected for writer and director. I’m really interested in where that’s going.
After the events of Raganark, we will be very close to Avengers: Infinity War. The Hulk will definitely be involved in Infinity War, and even though we will not be getting a solo Hulk movie (more on that later), there will be a full arc for the character by the time Phase 3 ends.
But we’ve worked a really interesting arc into ‘Thor 3′, ‘Avengers 3′ and ‘4′ for Banner that I think will – when it’s all added up – will feel like a Hulk movie, a standalone movie.
It is great to know that the Hulk will not be shorted in Phase 3 and get plenty of meaningful screen time. However, there are still people out there that want a solo Hulk movie. Ruffalo again goes on record to say he is up for it, but that there are still hurdles to make it happen that will probably never be cleared.
I’d love to do a Hulk movie, but that’s beyond my control,. It’s controlled by Universal. Marvel doesn’t even hold the rights to it. So, it’s not on the horizon. And I don’t know if it will be.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to hit theaters November 3, 2017.
