Another week down means another Weekly Pulse coming at you courtesy of MCUExchange! This week, we had Brazil’s CCXP and in turn, got treated to the Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 trailer and some yet-to-be-released Spider-Man: Homecoming footage. Here are some things that may have gotten skipped over this week:
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As we near the mid-season finale, action on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is certainly ramping up. This past week, we saw Agents Coulson and Fitz get sent to an alternate dimension alongside Robbie Reyes. Everyone’s still on set working on finishing the second half of the season so Marvel TV producer Geoffrey Colo tweeted out a sneak peek of some sort of battle station we’ll be seeing on the show later in the season.

Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War has begun the production process and is anticipated to start filming any day now. Presumably, to kick off filming, the people in charge at Marvel had a little get-together this past week, where Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito tweet a picture of the Infinity War comic.

Even thou Doctor Strange is starting to wind down its theater run, we’re still getting new bits and pieces of information every so often. In a Doctor Strange-themed Meet & Greet recently held at Disney, they really put forth the effort when it comes to showing details in props. In the picture below, you’ll see various different marketing props including a Daily Bugle newspaper with a Nelson and Murdock ad towards the top right corner.
There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding Doctor Strange and the Oscars as many people are wondering if the movie will be the first MCU entry to come away with an Academy Award. Writer Will Goss tweeted out an infographic of the cast and crew members and the respective awards they would be up for.

Comicbook.com personality Brandon Davis tweeted out an image of Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson on the night of the movie’s release. At a screening of the movie, Davis says, Derrickson told the audience that “One day someone will make a bad Marvel movie but it ain’t gonna be me!”.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2
With the release of the first trailer of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 as I shared above, marketing has started for the second entry into the Guardians franchise. As you can see in the tweet below, the official Guardians twitter account tweeted a cryptic “I Am Groot” message.

With Chris Pratt’s father, who suffered from multiple sclerosis, passing away during the filming of Jurassic World in 2014, the actor admitted he never got the proper time to process his feelings, something that didn’t happen until he started filming Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2.
“The truth is I ripped open some wounds that had been healing for some time. And I didn’t want to,” Pratt told British GQ. “But I knew it was right for the moment… There are wounds that are never going to be totally healed. It would probably make for a better story if it was some emotional thing that I hadn’t dealt with… When we face the death of a parent, you sometimes feel regret that you didn’t fully embrace what you had.”
The Luke Cage social media platforms are takig turns sharing little clips of the show’s various characters. This week’s clip, as seen below, features police detective Misty Knight, as portrayed by acctress Simone Missick. Althought Misty Knight and Iron Fist have a history in the Marvel Comicsverse, Missick won’t be appearing in the Immortal Weapon’s Netflix show. However, she has been confirmed for The Defenders, which hits Netflix later next year.
Former Marvel comic artist Mitch Gerads shared a side-by-side image of a panel he drew of The Punisher and actor Jon Berthal, who plays the character in the MCU, wearing the same t-shirt, which can be seen below.
THIS. IS. WILD. @jonnybernthal rockin’ my style!

Spider-Man: Homecoming is in the post-production phase and while we’re still awaiting the first publicly-released footage from the upcoming movie, director Jon Watts continues to share behind-the-scenes clips on his Instagram account. In the video below, Watts is working with actor Tom Holland, who plays the web-slinging super hero in the MCU.
Marvel Funko Shorts
Something completely new that debuted this week was the first Marvel Funko Short, an animated web series showcasing our favorite MCU characters fighting crime as their adorable Funko POP! bobblehead counterparts. The first short can be seen below.
Winter Solider actor Sebastian Stan likes his character just enough to get a custom prop made showcasing his character’s insignia. In an Instagram post, Stan shared an image of him carrying a Captain-America like shield but instead of the read white in blue, it’s completely silver with the exception of the Winter Soldier star in the middle. The prop was made by Shield Labs based in Independence, Missouri and if you’re a fan of replica props, we definitely invite you to check them out on the web.
