It has not been quiet on the news front during the first month of production of Captain America: Civil War. There have been numerous set photos (you can find them all here), plus reports on the roles of Ant-Man and Black Widow, if we could see another Hulk, and what Black Panther is doing during the movie.
Today, JoBlo.com is reporting a list of new details on Chadwick Boseman‘s Black Panther plus a lot of tidbits on costume upgrades for a majority of the cast.
Spoiler Warning: Potential spoilers for Captain America: Civil War below. If you want to avoid spoilers, do not read further.
We will start off with what Black Panther is doing during movie. According to the new report, he will be siding with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) for a majority of the film and will lead to an epic battle between him and Captain America (Chris Evans). The report describes an exciting moment in the eventual fight.
we’ll see him scratching Cap’s shield easily and his prowess will prove to be a viable threat to Rogers
Along with his vibranium claws and suit, Black Panther will also be sporting a Panther jet that is very “Stark-like.”
Speaking of suits, we have new information on what Hawkeye, War Machine, Ant-Man, Falcon, and Captain America will look like. For Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), he will be getting more purple added to his costume and a full right sleeve to make him look closer to his comic companion. War Machine (Don Cheadle) will also be getting an upgrade that will make him more “tank-like.” Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will be getting a completely new suit with modern technology that will allow him to grow and shrink similar to the Giant-Man suit in the comics. He will reportedly be able to grow up to 15-20 feet tall.
Anthony Mackie‘s Falcon is much different than he has been in the comics but just as we saw at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, his new suit has brought in more red to pay homage to the comic version. In the comics, Falcon has falcon he is telepathically linked to named Redwing. While we won’t be seeing an actual sidekick bird in Captain America: Civil War, we will see a new version. He will be getting a drone that is red and “bird-like” in design.
Finally, Captain America will be getting an upgrade, likely after the previously mentioned battle with Black Panther, that adds chainmail armor to his suit. This is the classic look from the comics and while it probably won’t be a drastic change in overall look, it is a nice addition.
Captain America: Civil War is set to hit theaters May 6, 2016.
