Doctor Strange Spoilers below. You’ve been warned!

…….. …… … .

With Doctor Strange debuting as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was only fitting he brought along long-time adversary Dormammu along. During the majority of the film’s marketing, we were lead to believe that Kaecilius, as portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen, and his zealots were the movie’s primary antagonist and while they did play a big part, it ended up being Dormammu who was the true bad guy.

The movie is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and has a 91% score as of this posting, so you can tell it was well-received by critics and fans alike. However, with every critically-acclaimed blockbuster does come critiques, and many people out there, myself included, think Marvel showed a toned-down version of the Master of the Dark Dimension. It’s a bit understandable not wanting to go absolutely comic-accurate with a character such as Dormammu, as you’d be getting into some pretty dark and dirty points, especially for a movie that’s supposed to be relatively family-friendly.

That said, thanks to our friends over at Daily Superhero, we’re getting our first looks at the Dormammu concept art courtesy of artist Ryan Meinerding. While the movie-version of Dormammu ended up with more cosmic-like themes, the concept art does show a darker version with fire-like projections and hands with claws.

What do you think, MCUEx fans? Was Dormammu portrayed well enough for your liking in Doctor Strange? Or would you like to have seen a more fiery version like that seen in the concept art? Let us know in the comments below.
