With production due to begin soon, new details have surfaced from the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Doctor Strange. Today was actually our first double dosing of Steven Strange news, and it’s a healthy reminder that this movie is actually happening and we’re a mere 15 months from seeing the Sorcerer Supreme himself grace the big screen.

First up is some interesting information from the films Director of Photography, Ben Davis. It lines up pretty well with what we’ve been hearing for a while, particularly as of late in reference to Scott Lang’s brief dive into the Quantum Realm in last month’s Ant-Man. Check out the quote below:

“It has a very psychedelic grounding, and it’s not your typical Marvel action movie. Most of the work within it is about other dimensions. And I described it, I think, when I was talking to Marvel as Marvel’s Fantasia, in a way, because it’s so sort of out there and different to everything else that they’ve done.”

Last but not least, we finally get our first description of the costume Benedict Cumberbatch will be sporting as he suits up as the Doctor. During a Disney presentation in Africa last week, the first concept art images of Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange we’re shown. While there are no leaked or official images available yet, we do have a good description of what was shown. Check out the quote from htxt.africa below:

Doctor Strange looks dark. Very dark. As in scraping the edge of ‘horror-movie-dark’ and information imparted about the film from Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, supports this appraisal. According to Feige, the film will have a firm footing in the shadowy world of the occult and supernatural.

There were also some additional tweets embedded by Comicbook.com that shed’s a bit more light on the look of the costume.

Hopefully some of these images are released publicly at or after D23!
