Ever since the six week hiatus of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there has been sort of this lull in the ever-expanding lore of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This month’s Iron Fist didn’t do much to expand the mystical aspect of the lore and we’re still several weeks away from the cosmic craziness of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Luckily, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally resuming next week and we may have news of the potential return of a Season 2 villain. In a post on Instagram, fan-favorite BJ Britt – speculated to return this season as well – posted an image of him partying with actor Simon Kassianides, known for playing Hydra loyalist Sunil Bakshi back in the day.
In case you forgot, Sunil Bakshi’s compliance to Hydra’s bidding was never rewarded and was killed by Jemma Simmons (out of all people) during a forced co-op with Grant Ward. With the whole alternate reality “What-If” story going on in the current season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the return of Bakshi is unsurprising yet very welcome.
Now while you’re free to doubt any semblance of plausibility this Instagram photo has to offer, it’s worth noting that BJ Britt has previously posted an image of him hanging with a bunch of the Agents of SHIELD cast members including Lance Hunter, somewhat validating fan speculation on his return. So unless BJ Britt and Simon Kassianides just love hanging with the past and present SHIELD crew and are totally willing to go out of their way to attend 90’s-themed costume parties just for kicks, it’s safe to assume that Bakshi and Tripp are indeed returning. Like I said earlier, their return makes so much sense given the ongoing arc.
What do you think of this image and the potential return of Bakshi? Think it’s all BS and that we’re desperate for clicks? Let us know in the comments below!
