As many of you know, the New York Toy Fair kicked off today and Hasbro has had a strong presence there this year, showcasing new toys and collector’s items several Marvel properties coming out this year, most notably Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Toy fairs typically give us better looks at new characters for upcoming films, and this year has been no exception. Earlier today, we got another look at Kurt Russel’s Ego the Living Planet from an upcoming action figure and it looks like the Spider-Man: Homecoming booth may have given us confirmation that Shocker will suit up in full costume after all. You can check out the promotional art below courtesy of Instagram user Eric Cameron
Last September, we reported a possible Shocker sighting on the set of the film, you can check out the initial article for reference here. The promotional art seen at the toy fair looks very similar to the still unconfirmed set photos, with the major differences between the two being in the masks and vests. The on-set version seems to be closer to the comics, with the mask being all yellow with the brown cap on top. The toy fair version has the same mask, but with two brown stripes on the temples. The vest on the toy fair costume also seems to have some orange on the chest, but other than that, the two costumes look strikingly similar. Now, we do need to take into consideration that the promotional art is for the action figure line and in all likelihood may not be the final version seen in the film.
Either way, this promotional art does seem to confirm that we will see Shocker suit up in his full costume in the film. We’ve gotten brief glimpses of Shocker tech in the two trailers released thus far, but it’s nice to know that we’ll probably see the infamous quilted costume seen in all its glory on screen later this year. Now, the only question is who will actually suit up. At this point, it seems to be a toss-up between Bokeem Woodbine and Logan Marshall-Green and there are rumors brewing about two Shockers in the film but only time will tell at this point. The New York Toy Fair kicked off today and will run through next Tuesday, February 21st so tune in with us for the latest MCU toy sightings.
