In case some of you didn’t know, Marvel Studios does this thing where they create tie-in comics that precede the upcoming films they have. A few years back, we had Nick Fury’s Big Week, wherein we saw what Nick Fury was up to the week leading up to the events of The Avengers. Last year we had the Doctor Strange prelude that detailed the life of Mads Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius before he went all evil. And now, in preparation of July’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, we have a preview of the prelude comic highlighting Peter’s life before meeting Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War, courtesy of artist Todd Nauck.

Based on these pages alone, it’s probably safe to assume that a chunk of this comic will recreate some of Spidey’s best scenes in Civil War, including a more detailed retelling of Tony Stark’s footage of Spidey saving that crashing car in New York. The comic also gives us a more dynamic look at Spider-Man’s makeshift Ben Reilly looking costume and will be written by Will Corona Pilgrim, drawn by Todd Nauck, and colored by Veronica Gandini.
I haven’t read any of these comic book tie-ins nor do I ever plan to, but it’s really cool that we get these small nuggets to help enrich the world we know on screen. Who knew that Marvel would have a knack for making comics? What do you guys think of this prelude comic? Let us know in the comments below!
The first issue of Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude Comic comes out next week on March 1.
