Thanks to the press tour for Arrival, a sci-fi thriller debuting on Friday, we’ve seen interview after interview asking Jeremy Renner about the future of his MCU character Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye. In a new interview with Hey U Guys, the actor took the opportunity to speak about the upcoming Avengers movies: Avengers: Infinity War and the currently-untitled Avengers 4.
Renner didn’t share any concrete details, as Marvel Studios is infamously known for their ultra-secret ways, but he did say there are some exciting ideas surrounding his character.
“If I knew anything, I still couldn’t tell you, but I don’t know anything about it. I know there’s Infinity War – Avengers 3 & 4 happening. I mean, I don’t know anything outside of my involvement,” Renner said. “There’s some really great ideas, and they are following certain parts of Infinity War. It’s some real exciting stuff for lots of characters, especially for what they’re thinking of doing with Hawkeye.”
It seems that it’s an exciting time for fans of the master archer, who has appeared in The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War as the character has been the subject of major speculation the past few days, thanks in part to an interview with pop-culture website IGN, where Renner stated he’d like to explore his Hawkeye character deeper, potentially in a standalone series.
