When you look back at the creation of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the initial tagline for the series was “Not All Heroes Are Super.” A series that started out focusing on regular agents involved with people more powerful than they can imagine that brought a certain level of the spy genre into the MCU was what the show was intended to be. Fast forward to the season 3 finale and things have drastically changed. We’ve seen plenty of “regular” super powered people, but the uprising of Inhumans shifted the show from focusing on regular people, to instead give seemingly half the cast superpowers.

Not only do superheroes and villains fill the show, but the main character the last two seasons have been Daisy Johnson aka Quake, who formed a team of Secret Warriors to help out S.H.I.E.L.D. Just when the season 3 finale seemed to set up a more grounded focus moving forward, we could be going even crazier. Earlier this summer, rumors began to circulate that Ghost Rider could be making his way to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Initially, we were skeptic to believe these reports, which led us to discussing the possibility at length.

Word has now come out that has given the original rumor another chance to be true. LRM is now reporting that this is “officially a done deal.” Their single source has shared this information with them, that if true, would point towards an official announcement most likely happening during the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel tomorrow. LRM is reiterating the earlier report that this would be the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider. Furthermore, they report that with this deal, rumblings of this or another variation of Ghost Rider appearing on Netflix will not happen.

I’m still not sold that this will actually happen, but the continued reports cannot be a coincidence. I’ll wait until this is official to really react and hopefully they have a smart plan for the character should this be true. I can only hope if it does happen, Hellfire and Reyes face off in an epic flaming chain fight. Let us know if you want to see Ghost Rider join the series in the comments below!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for season 4 on September 20th at 10 p.m. on ABC.
