Last night, Jeff Sneider of The Wrap reported that Marvel was eyeing “Selma” director Ava DuVernay for either Black Panther or Captain Marvel, with Black Panther being the most likely option.

However, according to Umberto Gonzalez, formerly of Latino-Review, DuVernay isn’t the only director meeting with Marvel for Black Panther. It’s rumored that the director of the Sundance breakout “Dope”, Rick Famuyiwa, is also meeting with Marvel for Black Panther.

It is worth noting that although The Wrap did state that Marvel is also considering other directors, they went on to say that, “there is mutual interest in having her join the MCU.”

Also of note? Captain Marvel has writers, while we’ve yet to hear anything regarding writers for Black Panther as of yet.

These are two very solid choices for Black Panther, although I’d love to see DuVernay land the gig. What do you think?

Black Panther will hit movie theaters on July 6, 2018.
