There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Spider-Man: Homecoming, and from the looks of the cast that has been assembled so far, there will be plenty of familiar faces for fans of the Spider-Man comics. There has yet to be any official confirmation on the majority of the cast, with the exception of Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Michael Keaton has been confirmed to be Vulture by the trades as well as speculation that Logan Marshall Green will be The Tinkerer.
Now it looks like there is another familiar Spider-Man side character that will be appearing, if the latest report from Marvelous Realm is to be believed. According to their newest report, Edward “Ned” Leeds will have an appearance in the film, and they are speculating that another newcomer to the cast, Jacob Batalon, could be playing the role. For those unfamiliar, Leeds is a reporter for The Daily Bugle that is roughly the same age as Peter. Batalon is an unknown actor but appears to be similar in age, so if he is Leeds, him and Peter being two new interns at The Daily Bugle would make sense.
It is hard to say for certainty whether this rumor is true or not, but Marvelous Realm has been reporting other stories related to Homecoming, so until Marvel confirms Batalon as Leeds, we likely will not know the truth. That said, if their other report about Laura Harrier playing Liz Allan, Tony Revolori playing Flash Thompson, and Bokeem Woodbine playing Shocker eventually prove to be true, then this will become more believable. Let us know what you think about Ned Leeds possibly being in the movie in the comments below!
Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled to hit theaters July 7, 2017.
