Last year, Guardians of the Galaxy was the surprise hit at the box office earning $774M world-wide. Marvel was so pleased before the release, that they green-lit a sequel with James Gunn back in the director’s chair.

He started working on the sequel almost immediately and recently went down to Atlanta as they further prep the sequel. We know that the main cast will all return and that, no matter how many times fans ask Gunn, Hulk will not appear in the sequel. He has, however, reiterated that we will meet Star-Lord’s father and see one person join the Guardians team. Now, thanks to a new report by The Daily Superhero, we may know of another team that could appear.

The Daily Superhero is reporting a source of theirs close to the production process is saying that the Spaceknights will appear in the sequel. They wisely point out that Gunn has also stated his affection for the team,

Listen, I really love Rom: Spaceknight, as everyone at Marvel knows because they’ve given me Rom stuff… but we don’t own Rom. I would love for Rom: Spaceknight to show up because I love his story, I love the way he looks, I love everything about him…

While it is currently unclear if this will happen, Gunn did recently state on Facebook that they have a majority of the script locked down.

Could the Spaceknights be part of that 90% or is it possible Gunn is still deciding? We will have to wait awhile to find out, unless he comes out and confirms their involvement, which is HIGHLY unlikely.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters May 5, 2017.
