Last week, word and photos got out that Sylvester Stallone could have a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While the original report said his role was merely just a cameo, it is uncertain just how big or small that role is. Previously it was reported that Stallone’s costume resembled Judge Dredd, which led many to believe he was playing a member of the Nova Corps, but that appears to be untrue.
The most recent rumor coming out of Heroic Hollywood says that Stallone is the latest actor to have a role as a member of Yondu’s Ravagers. Recently Tommy Flanagan also got a role as Yondu’s right hand man, so Stallone also playing a Ravager seems a bit odd.
Heroic Hollywood also shut down rumors of Stallone playing Quill’s father or voicing Ego (like I hoped), but if all these rumors are true, the Ravagers are due for a big role. Adding Stallone and Flanagan to Yondu’s crew where Kraglin (Sean Gunn) was also lined up to have a bigger role makes it seem like they will play a major part in the story.
We will likely have to wait for quite a while to see what kind of role Stallone has in the movie. Hopefully Marvel will confirm him and others soon, including the roles/names for them and the likes of Kurt Russell in the near future.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters May 5, 2017.
