All right. From this moment on I’m going to stop commenting on any rumors surrounding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,…

Ever since Guardians of the Galaxy was released in 2014, there’s been one question on everyone’s minds: Who is Starlord’s dad? We have a few hints from the descriptions other characters gave of him (He’s angelic, he’s from an ancient race that the Nova Corps haven’t seen before, and Yondu thinks he’s a jackass), but no real evidence suggesting who the mysterious character could be. Well, even though we’re still almost two years away from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Heroic Hollywood is reporting that they know the answer to this mystery. Even though we’re taking this with a huge grain of salt, this is potentially a big spoiler for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, so continue at your own risk.

In a video on his website today, Umberto Gonzalez stated

According to four of my independent sources…who do not know each other…Peter Quill’s father is none other than Captain Marvel.

Now, Gonzalez isn’t referring to Carol Danvers, the Captain Marvel we’ll get to see in her 2019 movie. He’s referring to Mar-Vell, the Kree soldier who originally went by that name.

Gonzalez goes on to speculate that Mar-Vell was the part that Matthew McConaughey turned down last month. You can check out his full video below, where Umberto provides some background on the character and some more speculation about what Mar-Vell’s role might be.
