In case you didn’t know who Sean Gunn‘s character Kraglin is, he’s the first mate to Yondu in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. Seemingly a no name role, director James Gunn teased in his Periscope video that next year’s sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, will have a lot more of the character. The younger brother of James Gunn, Sean may have not had many lines in the original film, but he was always present in any Ravagers scenes. Plus, he provided the motion capture work for Rocket Raccoon.

“Kraglin has a very much expanded role,” Gunn said. “Kraglin is quite a serious big role in the movie.”

In the recent trailer, we got a lot more of Yondu (Michael Rooker) than expected and seeing as Kraglin is his right-hand man, it makes sense he’d be in the movie more. But, to have a serious ‘big’ role? If James Gunn’s video is any explanation, this seemingly unimportant character could be vital in Vol. 2. Could this back up the rumors that Yondu’s character could be leaving the Ravagers for some reason? With Kraglin the most likely to step up, it could make a lot of sense as to why we’d see more of the character.
