Season 2 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. dealt heavily with tracking down and eliminating Hydra. One of those leaders was the ageless Daniel Whitehall (Reed Diamond) that brought together a few of the sub plots of the season. The character was very important in the entirety of the season, but Coulson put an end to him in the latter half.

In the synopsis for episode 3×16 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. titled “Paradise Lost,” it has been revealed he will be making his comeback in some capacity. While there is no detail on how he is involved, the synopsis released by SpoilerTV reveals Diamond’s name in the cast amidst the upcoming reveal of more from Malick’s past.
