Last week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended with Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) quickly admitting to Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) that she knew AIDA was an Android. The only problem? Simmons has to take a lie-detector fairly regularly, which is now standard at the new and improved S.H.I.E.L.D., and is concerned that the secret about AIDA’s true identity will become known.
It looks like that issue is going to be addressed in next week’s episode. A newly released clip (which you can see above) shows Simmons undergoing her polygraph and all seems well until the operator asks her “Have you ever obtained sensitive information that you are obligated to report up the security spectrum or to the director?” Clearly, the reveal that AIDA is an Android and has been hidden from S.H.I.E.L.D. would fall into that category, though, as Simmons points out, it is a very broad question. Her immediate removal from the interview seems foreboding, but could be for completely unrelated reasons.
We’ll have to wait until next Tuesday to know Simmons’ fate, when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode 4×05, “Lockup” airs at 10 PM on ABC. Until then, do you think Simmons is truly in trouble? Let us know in the comments!
