In the few short months that the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming has been filming in Atlanta, casting news has continuously been coming in with no apparent end in sight. Most of the announced additions to the cast, such as Donald Glover and Angourie Rice, haven’t been able to reveal the names of their respective characters as of yet, and this trend continues with the latest member of the ensemble, Jona Xiao.

Given that this is an entirely new Spider-Man who exists in the MCU, all we can do is speculate as to who she may be playing; however, there are some clues that we can take away from this news. At age 27, we do know that it’s almost certain that she will not be playing one of Peter Parker’s classmates, as the oldest actor confirmed to be portraying a high school character is Tom Holland himself at age 20. Also, given the filming location of Midtown High, we also know that it is unlikely that she will be playing one of Peter’s teachers. Several high school sequences were shot this summer at Grady High School in Atlanta, and since school is in session, securing that location for filming would be impractical and unlikely. At this point, it’s all speculation. Heck, Xiao could even be playing a character who is working with the Vulture and the Tinkerer. For now, it’s anyone’s guess! Who do you think she will be playing?
