When you look back at previous Spider-Man films, ones like Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are often looked down upon with disdain because they were filled with too many villains that the movie or Spider-Man could deal with. Fast forward to 2016 and we are only a year away from Spider-Man: Homecoming being released in theaters, and even with production just beginning, the cast is continually growing. On the villain front, we know that Michael Keaton will be playing Vulture and recently Logan Marshall-Green joined in a villainous role as well. My money is on him being the previously rumored side villain, The Tinkerer, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Now, it appears that we have yet another mysterious villain that will be appearing with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Bokeem Woodbine has joined the cast as a villain. There is no word on who he could be playing, but hopefully he is a minor character at best. In fact, a few days ago Woodbine was spotted near the set of Homecoming and posed for the following photo with a fan.

If he is already filming scenes, he could be a lower level street criminal that Spider-Man fights in the opening sequences of the movie. With there being little reported about the plot and no official word from Marvel yet regarding the cast, I have no idea who he could be in particular. I will say that the amount of people being cast and three villains – plus possibly Osborn – make me a tad nervous that this movie will not be overstuffed. If you have any theories, let us know what they are in the comments below!
Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled to hit theaters July 7, 2017.
