Spoilers: If you’re not caught up with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s third season, stop reading now as there will be spoilers below.

Just yesterday, we posted a quote from Brett Dalton in which he teased what became of Grant Ward after his death at the end of the mid-season finale, “Maveth”. We saw something take over his corpse at the end of the episode, and fans immediately began to speculate that something was Hive – a character described as “an experiment made to physically embody the Hydra ideal.”

And while we’re still a few weeks out from a reveal on the show, as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t return until March 8th, it appears as though a cast member has confirmed fan speculation during a recent con appearance. While at the Portland Wizard Comic Con this weekend, Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons) seemingly confirmed that Dalton’s Grant Ward was taken over by Hive.

“Watching him [Dalton] play Hive is interesting. He has the memories of the people he has killed.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on March 8th with episode eleven of season three titled “Bouncing Back”. It’s more than likely we’ll have some sort of confirmation at that point as to what has become of Ward.

As always, for all things Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., be sure to follow along here.
