Prior to the official announcement that Ghost Rider would be joining the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the show’s fourth season, there were plenty of rumors surrounding the character’s inclusion in the series. Most of those rumors came about when ABC and Marvel plastered a fiery chain alongside a train outside of SDCC. While many – us included – believed it meant that Hellfire, a character we’d already seen sport a fiery chain during season three, would simply play a larger part going into the next season, most believed it was a tease for Ghost Rider. Those people, of course, ended up being right. In fact, two episodes in, Axle Whitehead‘s James/Hellfire hasn’t returned for season four. That will change come the fourth episode of the season as Whitehead is confirmed to finally make his return. (Here’s to hoping we’ll get some Hellfire and Ghost Rider scenes, although I’d assume the CGI budget may be a bit too tight for that.)
