Three years ago in a quiet October-November day such as today, it was announced that Marvel was finally bringing back Daredevil to the live action realm alongside characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist in 4 different Netflix series’ which would eventually culminate in an Avengers-esque team up called The Defenders. And today after three years of waiting, filming for The Defenders will finally begin. (It’s finally happening!)

In a comic-con appearance a few days ago, Charlie Cox confirmed that the much awaited eight-episode miniseries will begin filming today. Set pictures New York detailing filming locations under the show’s production name Group Therapy have surfaced as well.

In addition to that, the official Defenders twitter page has confirmed the return of fan favorites Misty Knight and Karen Page in the series, played by Simone Missick and Deborah Ann Woll respectively. No word yet on how big their roles in the show will be but knowing how they kick-ass in their respective shows can only mean great things for the Defenders. We’re also hoping that this is where Misty gets her metal arm. Make it happen, Marvel!

The Defenders is set to premiere sometime in 2017 on Netflix.
