With Jessica Jones having wrapped not too long ago, Marvel is gearing up to start production on their next Netflix series, Luke Cage. Though things have been relatively quiet regarding the series, casting announcements are slowly starting to make their way out via the trades. A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that actress Alfre Woodard had joined the cast of Luke Cage as Minetta, a character that was speculated to be a version of the villain Black Mariah. And today, thanks to the folks over at Deadline, we now have two additional names to add to the cast.
Actor Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) has joined the cast as a series regular. Deadline reports that his character’s name is Sonny, though they also note that this is unconfirmed given that most productions use false character names on their breakdowns. It is believed that Rossi is actually playing the character Shades.
Along with the casting of Rossi, Deadline has also confirmed that Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple for the series. This should come as no series as not only is Temple a love interest of Cage’s in the comics, but Dawson has also signed a deal to appear in all of the Netflix shows.
Luke Cage is expected to enter production soon for a 2016 release on Netflix. Cheo Hodari Coker is serving as showrunner, and he has written the first two episodes of the series.
As always, for all things Luke Cage, be sure to follow along here.
