In just a few short months, Mike Colter will be making the jump from supporting character in Jessica Jones to leading his own series with Luke Cage. As normal with Marvel properties, there has been a lot of secrecy surrounding the series. Just recently, new set photos showcasing a new villain showed up online, which proves just how little we actually know about what to expect. The one thing that has been consistently stated is how unique it will be, and the new tone that it will have.
As we gear up for the release, those involved will be asked more questions about their involvement and that is the case today. Theo Rossi is set to play Shades in the series and in a recent interview with Vulkan Magazine, he briefly talked about how excited he is to be involved and teased how it will “change the game.”
Luke Cage is just as cool as it comes. Being a comic book head from a young age it’s been pretty surreal. I feel we will change the game in many ways with what we are doing with it and I’m really excited for people to explore the world. Hearing the words “Welcome to Marvel” on a call is just about as badass as it comes for this little punk from NYC who used to draw these characters in sketch books for the majority of his childhood. Surreal stuff.
We do not know much of anything about Rossi’s role and with this being the first time he has spoken about his involvement, but it is nice to hear that he was a fan of the property growing up. Once we learn more about his role and get closer to the premiere date, we should have a better understanding of what his future within the MCU will be. Let us know what you think of Rossi’s comments in the comments below!
Luke Cage will debut exclusively on Netflix at 12:01 PST on September 30th.
