Last week, a rumor surfaced about Vincent D’Onofrio, our beloved Kingpin, joining the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Since this rumor surfaced, we have learned that Michael Keaton is in final negations to portray the main villain for the film, which is currently said to be that of Vulture. Of course, as reports have indicated, however, they intend to have two villains, although neither of them seem to be The Kingpin, unfortunately. When we shared the idea of D’Onofrio appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming, we said that there was a very slight chance of legitimacy, and according to D’Onofrio himself, it appears that he is definitely not aware of any involvement in the upcoming film.

However, even though the actor isn’t involved in the upcoming Spidey reboot, fans have loved the idea of him possibly making an appearance. Wilson Fisk is a fan favorite character from Daredevil, where D’Onofrio has portrayed a villain with such emotional depth and extensive power. In the comics, the big man originated as a Spider-Man villain, before crossing over to the Daredevil universe. D’Onofrio has brought the Kingpin to life in a way that we can’t get enough of, and it’s understandable that people got really excited over the idea of seeing him transition from just a Daredevil villain, to a movie villain as well. What are fans to do with all of this excitement? D’Onofrio says to keep telling Marvel!

While the upcoming Spidey reboot is still filling out its cast, and is said to be looking for a younger second villain for the film, D’Onofrio’s reaction seemingly confirming his non-involvement with the project which is set to begin filming in late next month. While he has shown up in Daredevil unannounced, he never blatantly denied involvement in Daredevil season two, which is how he is responding to these Spider-Man: Homecoming rumors. So as much as we all wanted it to be true, it’s safe to conclude that, if they do intend to include the Kingpin, they haven’t reached the point where they have secured D’Onofrio for the role.

Of course, D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is a dark character, who might not fit well in the lighter, younger movie universe. If they did bring him up to Queens, to have some sort of involvement with Spidey, what would you like to see? Let us know in the comments!
