As we told you last week, sources were saying that Zendaya would appear in the 2017 Spider-Man reboot as a character named “Michelle.” Reports went on to say that she will not be a lead in the film, nor will she be playing Peter’s love interest, but she will play a bigger part in future installments.
Yesterday, while on the Ellen Show, Zendaya confirmed that she will, in fact, be in the film. However, like most of Marvel’s new hires, she was very uncomfortable when asked for specifics about her role in the film.
I can’t say anything else, other than I’m going to be in it
When pushed for information on when they would start filming, she didn’t have any more information. But she did describe how she came to be in the role, considering that her career up until this point has been very different.
I have no idea, to be completely honest. You know it’s very exciting, when it comes to the acting space, I am basically unknown. You know, I’ve never been in a real movie before or anything like that, so I had to start from the bottom like anyone else and auditioned and auditioned and auditioned and [broke] down those walls because a lot of people do have that preconceived notion of who I am based off previous things I’ve done, so you got to really break that down and go hard, put in the work, take all the meetings, take all the auditions.
Being in a Marvel film doesn’t exactly seem like “The Bottom,” but things definitely appear to be heading up for the young actress, who is also the new face of Covergirl.
While very little is known about her role, it seems that her casting adds to the youthful feel of the upcoming Spider-Man, with Tom Holland in the role of Spidey. Who else would you hope to see cast in this reboot?
