Following the departure of Edgar Wright on Ant-Man, Marvel started the search to replace him. The process, which saw multiple directors pass on the project, ended with Peyton Reed set as the director and Adam McKay brought in to do some rewrites alongside star Paul Rudd. Both Reed & McKay helped to bring some new sequences to the movie, including the Quantum Realm.

McKay has been rumored to be involved with multiple different projects for Marvel, most notably Inhumans, but nothing has transpired so far. Kevin Feige has previously stated that McKay is “in the running for everything”, so we’ll have to wait and see if he goes on to direct anything for Marvel Studios. But what about writing?

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, McKay touched on the chances of him returning to write Ant-Man and the Wasp and said,

I was talking to [Paul] Rudd about it the other day. We’ll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun. I loved working with Marvel. And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one’s more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there’s a TV show idea I’ve been kicking around.

It’s unclear if the projects he refers to are ones with Marvel or just his overall projects in general. Either way, McKay did a good job on Ant-Man and I hope he can bring even more fun and wit to the sequel.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to hit theaters July 6, 2018.
