James Gunn has been teasing the direction for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for some time. If you still haven’t seen the film, continue at your own risk as we will spoil a major revelation of the film. If you want to catch up or just re-watch the film, be sure to check out the film’s release on Netflix in December.

One major revelation from a post-credit sequence in Vol. 2 was that we will finally see the character of Adam Warlock make his on-screen appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His race, the Sovereign, played a major part in the film and many expected that Ayesha, their ruler, would use her latest creation to hunt down the Guardians. It seems that Gunn may head in a different direction as revealed in a recent tweet.

In an ever-expanding universe like the MCU, they can introduce the character at any time. Gunn is expanding the cosmic side of the MCU and may have some interesting plans for the character, especially with him confirming that they did not have any plans to introduce him in Avengers 3 or 4. Given the characters strong ties with the Infinity Stones storyline, it is an interesting decision to not include him. Maybe Warlock will get his own film, where we follow his adventure hunting down the Guardians but slowly learning about the universe and becoming a kinder person. He would have a similar evolution that Vision has, as he is a child in the body of a grown man. Throw in an overprotective Ayesha focusing mainly on killing the Guardians, there would be a very interesting dynamic to explore.
