With season four of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. having begun production, we can expect the cast will continue to grow as it has over the past couple of weeks. While the season looks to be going all in on Robbie Reyes, the Inhuman story line was certainly left unresolved at the end of season three. To that end, actress Parminder Nagra has joined the show as an anti-Inhuman politician in what is being described as a “multi-episode role” that will kick off in the third episode.
Nagra should look familiar to fans. Not only did she have lengthy stays on ER and The Blacklist, but also starred in Bend it Like Beckham. Bringing politicians to the table in season four seems to bridge the gap many fans questioned as the show closed last season: why weren’t the Inhumans addressed in the Sokovia Accords? Throwing the Inhumans into the political arena also continues the push to seemingly switch out the X-Men and replace them with the Inhumans.
While some are ready to move on from what has been a less than satisfying Inhumans arc, it represents an effort at good story telling and another notch in the “It’s All Connected” belt to continue to address the explosion of enhanced people running around the MCU.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four will premiere September 20th in its new 10:00 PM EST time slot.
