With the announcement of Marvel Television’s schedule at Comic-Con International in San Diego earlier today, fans immediately noticed that something was missing. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., always a fan favorite, was not on the list of properties to appear. Instead, like the fall premiere date on ABC, it appears that Inhumans will be taking it’s place. But the cast of SHIELD heard the fans, and while they can’t change the plans for SDCC, they have announced that there will be a chance for the show to be featured on a main stage. It will simply be a few months later.

Series star Clark Gregg jokingly blamed the lack of SHIELD at SDCC on the treatment of fellow star Iain De Caestecker at last year’s con.

But Gregg went on to express his sympathy to fans that are disappointed, and suggest that they will have a chance to see a full Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel this fall, when they come to New York Comic-Con.

Gregg went on to suggest that the team behind SHIELD may try to find some other ways to make it up to fans, as well, such as live streaming Q&A sessions, possible with prizes. Meanwhile, New York Comic Con is a few months away, happening the first weekend in October. While Gregg and co-star Chloe Bennet were in a panel at the con in 2016, there has never been a NYCC panel with the entire cast. However, it appears that what they have planned for New York this year is going to be a first, in some way.

Geoffrey Colo is the transmedia producer for SHIELD, so his announcement of this being a first for the show probably means that they have something special planned. Last year, NYCC attendees got to view the following week’s episode in it’s entirety, with a brief question and answer session with the cast members in attendance. As this year’s panel will be before season five premieres, odds are that major announcements about the plans for the new season will be made to the lucky fans in attendance.

Does the fact that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will get a later moment in the spotlight help ease your pain that they are not going to be in San Diego? Let us know, in the comments! Meanwhile, The MCU Exchange will be in attendance at both conventions to bring you all of the details. Stay tuned!
