A huge portion of Marvel Television is dissolving with the cancelation of all Marvel shows produced by streaming giant Netflix and the Jeph Loeb-led division’s mainstay hit Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may eventually follow suit as well. Speaking to Den of Geek during the Captain Marvel press junket, star Clark Gregg was asked whether the announced seventh season would be the last for the series.

That’s the word I’ve heard. The announcement I read was, two more seasons, six and seven.

The sudden renewal for the seventh season came as a surprise last November to many fans given that Season 6 isn’t set to premiere until this May. With no viewership ratings or fan reception to base the renewal on, it does make us wonder if the show was quickly renewed to have the final season in writing before any network troubles ensued. Should Season 7 be their final outing, it’ll be assuring to know that the writers will get to end the series on their own terms.
